Our courses are numbered so that they give an indication of the Level and the future careers they are suitable for:
Subject name Level Structure
English 1 01
For example:
English 101 All Achievement Standards
English 102 A mix of Achievement Standards and Unit Standards
English 103 All Unit Standards
‘01 courses are designed for those who are thinking of going to University
‘02 courses are designed for those who might go to Polytech, might take up a top apprenticeship or go to a job which requires good skills
‘03 courses are designed to provided the skills and knowledge needed for employment.
Which is best?
All the courses provide credits for NCEA so select the course that keeps open career options and which gives the best chance of success.
Choosing an ‘02 course does not mean you can’t do an ‘01 course in the future.
If a University or Polytech degree is a possibility ‘01 courses should be selected.
Good results always provide wider options.
