
Visual Art 101
Visual Art 101 is a course that covers three Achievement Standards (AS). For each Achievement Standard that is a combination of practical art making methods and art theory in the form of research on contemporary New Zealand Artists and traditional Maori Art.
There are two internally assessed Achievement standards. One is (AS 90019) this involves drawing and related studies developing practical knowledge in art making processes. The second (AS 90018) is the investigation of Art styles and Artists works.
The final unit; Achievement Standard (AS 90020) is an externally assessed Art Board Folio. This folio involves students developing original art work based on ideas gathered in the previous three Achievement Standards. These Art Board Folios are sent to Wellington in late October for verification of marking.( Dates will be confirmed later in the year for the Art Board assessment).
Visual Art 101 provides a total of 20 credits. The subject is studied for four hours per week and all students have ongoing homework in the form of work completion. This course requires students to have the stationary Art pack bought through the Art Department.This cost $80.00.

School Examinations.
Term 2 and 3: There are no actual exams in Art , however there are compulsory workshops in this time.
Late October/ early November:
22 October. Due in Wellington on 26th October
