ENGLISH 201
English 201 is a course in which students will be assessed on their production and writing skills and knowledge and understanding of texts.
It consists of Achievement Standards and one Unit Standard and is a mix of practical and theoretical work.
16 credits are internally assessed and a further 6 credits will assess students’ understanding of the curriculum through external exams.
The internal assessments will require students to produce an extended piece of creative writing and formal (transactional) writing, deliver an oral presentation, read poetic written text closely and investigate a language or literature topic.
Each internally assessed standard is assessed at its completion.
The external assessments will require students to respond to questions on visual texts and extended texts.
Each externally assessed standard is assessed formatively through tests and school examinations.
English is studied for four hours per week.
