
ENGLISH 301
English 301 is a course in which students will be assessed on their production and writing skills and knowledge and understanding of texts.
It consists entirely of Achievement Standards and is a mix of practical and theoretical work.
7credits are internally assessed and a further 14 credits will assess students’ understanding of the curriculum through external exams.
The internal assessments will require students to produce an extended piece of writing in a selected style, deliver an oral presentation, and investigate a language or literature topic.
Each internally assessed standard is assessed at its completion.
The external assessments will require students to respond to questions on visual texts, written texts, unfamiliar texts and respond critically to Shakespearean drama
Each externally assessed standard is assessed formatively through tests and school examinations.
English is studied for four hours per week.
