
Painting 301
301 Painting is a course made up of two Achievement Standards (AS).
For each Achievement Standard there is a mix of theory and practical work in the form of drawing and paint studies.
AS90663 Achievement Standard is internally assessed. These are presented in the student’s visual diary for assessment.The assignment is a practical drawing assignment.
The 2nd Achievement Standard is presented in the form of an externally marked Art Board Folio. The Art Board is based on students developing original ideas but using methods, styles and artists as inspiration. This is then sent to Wellington in early November for marking. The Art boards are later sent back to the student’s home.( The date for this external assessment will not be available till later on in Term 3).
Although there are no formal examinations in Painting 301 during the year. There are compulsory workshops during exam time.
The subject is studied for 4 hours per week and is worth 20 credits.

School Examinations:
Term 2 – No exams. Instead students have compulsory workshops that are part of the unit assessments.
NCEA Exams:
Term 4 – NCEA External marking of 301 Painting Boards 90667.
Date to be confirmed by NZQA. It will be in early November.
