What if...

A student misses an internal assessment deadline
If a student misses an internal assessment deadline they have missed out on the assessment and will not get credits or a grade unless a medical certificate is produced showing they were ill.

A student may have an opportunity to resit the missed assessment.
This is not a right.  The opportunity depends on the Standard concerend and the nature of the assessment that was being used.

A student misses an exam
There is no second chance.
The student will be recorded as not sitting and will not be awarded any credits or grades.
The exam can only be resat the following year.

An aegrotat pass is not possible.

A student is sick during the exam time.
If a student is sick during the exam time a special assessment of the result that would be expected is made.
The assessment is based on the student’s work during the year.

This is called an aegrotat.
It must be applied for by the school.
A Doctor’s certificate is required to accompany the application.
