University Entrance and Other Qualifications

Access to Education
We offer our International Students full access to the New Zealand secondary education system.

Enrolment in a course depends upon our assessment of each student's level of achievement.
We will not enrol students in a course that is too difficult either beacuse of the student's level of achievement or because of the student's level of English langauge.

We support students with special English language classes.
We also provide students with some extra help in some of their courses.

All students can enter the New Zealand State Education Qualifications at Years 11, 12 and 13.

University Entrance
Students enter the University Entrance qualification in Year 13.

It is part of the NCEA Level 3 qualification.

To pass University Entrance, students must do these things:

  1. Get 14 credits in each of two Level 3 courses.
  2. Get a total of 14 credits in any two other Level 3 courses.
  3. Get 8 credits in English at Level 2.
  4. Get 14 credits in Mathematics at Level 1.

Please Note: These are the minimum requirements.  For example Students who pass Mathematics at Level 2 or 3 will automatically satisfy the requirements of Point 4.

Students who wish to study courses for NCEA Level 3  and University Entrance  need to have very good English.

We will enrol students straight into Year 13 if the student's English is good.  But we recommend that students enter Kaipara College at Year 12 so that they can become more fluent in English and more familiar with the New Zealand system.  This will give a student a good background and a much better chance to be successful in Year 13.
